We had a chat with our new team rider, Carolina Villanueva, an international show jumper from Spain who has been making waves in the equestrian world. At just 21 years old, she has already achieved significant milestones, such as winning a gold medal with the Spanish Young Riders Team in the 2021 Nations Cup in Gorla Minore and being ranked number one in the women’s Spanish ranking in 2022.
When did your interest in horses begin?
Carolina: My journey with horses started at the age of three when I lived in the Netherlands. My grandmother and I stumbled upon a stable, and after noticing lessons were offered, I immediately requested to ride the biggest horse there. My grandmother paid for my first lessons, which was the beginning of my love for horses.
What were your biggest achievements in 2023?
Carolina: 2023 was an amazing year for me. I had the honor of representing Spain in my first Senior Nations Cup, competing in my first CSIO4*, and achieving a dream by participating in the 160 cm Grand Prix.
What are your future goals in your career?
Carolina: Looking forward, my goals include climbing the ranks in the Longines World Rankings, achieving clear rounds at the highest level, and proudly representing Spain in international competitions.
What advice do you have for show jumpers aspiring to success?
Carolina: My advice is to embrace the continuous learning process in this sport. It’s not a straight line; it’s a journey that humbles and empowers us. Dream big enough that your dreams scare you, and never give up.
What do you enjoy most about working with Equestrian Stockholm?
Carolina: Working with Equestrian Stockholm is fantastic. The products have a timeless elegance, performance, and functionality. Plus, the team feels like a family!
